1 Pissed Off Reaper [Action/Voice]

[Alright, let's review: One, she was supposed to be in her cabin waiting for the ship to arrive at the Derelict, two, she's not supposed to have a blaring headache crunching her skull, and three, she's not supposed to be feeling like complete crap barring said headache. So, Luceti, here's her question: why has she been unceremoniously dumped into a forest that doesn't even look like Pragia's greenery, and why does she have a sundress on? She would really, really, really like to know. Sure doesn't help that the familiar, cool feeling of her room is gone and replaced with the humidity of the forest. It wakes her right up when she gets over her initial physical screwball.

There's a slight groan before she starts sitting up.] ...Feels like I just downed a glass of ryncol...what the hell happened...?

[It doesn't take her long to actually stand up, either. Those synthetic parts are a lifesaver, even if she didn't ask for them; when her eyes focus, though, she finds herself staring at her surroundings. ...Alright...where the hell was she?] ...Pragia? No, it couldn't be. [There's too little greenery compared to that forest planet, and none of it's clinging onto any buildings...so where does that put her? Earth? One of the colonies? She's not sure. As with the other discoveries, very little time passes before she finds red wings stuck on her back -- it's as if the Illusive Jackass wanted to screw around with her even more. <_< There's not a peep from her for a while before she starts restraining the urge to shoot something -- like she could, without her trusty pistol...

But something else catches her eye and makes her curiosity resurface -- the journal with her name, and her clothing sitting there right next to it. Not realizing that it can transmit her voice just yet, she picks it up and stares at it.] This looks pretty old-fashioned...why would anyone use this?

[Oh, if only you knew. Feel free to chime in while she inspects it -- it'll be a nice surprise. :P]

[Totally hot redhead, but he's not flirting with the New Feather immediately.]

That's not the least of it. We have ninja turtles, mermaids, fairies...I think even a vampire.

It's a little mind blowing, but its no worse than an 80s cartoon.

It gets boring pretty quickly if you don't have a good hobby, really.

It's Arsene Lupin III, by the way. You can just call me Lupin.

Shouldn't be too hard to find one.

Commander Shepard of the Normandy. Pleasure to meet you, Lupin.
redjacketthief: (-glasses- would you look at that?)

[personal profile] redjacketthief 2012-07-12 05:17 pm (UTC)(link)
[He's only familiar with Normandy because of its geographic location in France--and the battle that took place there during World War II. He's never heard of a vessel with that name, but he understands 'Commander' well enough.

It earns a chuckle. Funny, that was his rank during the Shift a few months ago where he believed he was a spy for the New Republic.]

Pleasure's mine, Commander. [He offers a casual, friendly salute.] A lot of people take up sparring, or even teaching self defense to people who don't know how. Others volunteer in the restaurants or shops, because we have no money and too much time to kill.

By the way, welcome to Luceti.

[He'll get one back, then, just out of courtesy. Habits gained from being in the military for so long die hard. :P]

For what good it's worth, thanks. [Let's just assume for the moment that Kyon's given the details already because that thread's still ongoing. And then the sparring comes to mind...no, not Garrus' awkward story involving reach and flexibility] What sort, hand-to-hand? [Like there'd be any other kind of sparring, but. Worth a question, at least.]

[Oh, Lupin all ready knows that. He's stalks the journals as a hobby, and has been very bored over the last few weeks. :I]

You're welcome, Commander. We get a lot of newcomers every few months, so it's just better to offer a friendly welcome before the Shifts start to happen. That way, people know who they can count on.

The sparring is anything you can think of, really. We have lots of combatants here, from medieval samurai to ninja to mages that seem like they should be in a video game. Hell, one of my best friends here fights with a Jitte--an old-style Japanese weapon used by the police.

No matter what you preferred style, you'll be able to find a partner with no problem.

[--before taking a seat and cupping her chin with one hand. She's still got a few unanswered questions, like...hmm.] Color me curious. Where does everyone go for sparring, anyway? Sure, there's holding it outdoors, but...
redjacketthief: (-glasses- would you look at that?)

--We have a Battle Dome to the south of town. It's the most high tech structure in the village, complete with simulation rooms. You can program intensive combat scenarios with them....or, you could program a swanky spa room. Think of it as something kind of like a Holodeck--anything you can imagine, you can do in there.

Not even a single limitation, eh? Handy. [She'll have to drop by there later once she's settled in. ...Though there's the matter of her things... :|] ...By the way, you happen to know where I can find my stuff? Not that I'm a scared goose or anything, but I'm not going around town without a pistol at least.

[Plus, if there's trouble, what's she gonna fight back with? A Shepard Punch? ...Okay, that might still be effective, but. >_>]
redjacketthief: @ rerun (casual-- lazy)

[personal profile] redjacketthief 2012-07-14 01:30 am (UTC)(link)
Nope, no limitations, except for that safety that's programmed into it. You know, so you don't accidentally get yourself killed in a session.

[He chuckles, though the sound is a little bitter. He needs to stop making those jokes.]

...remember how I said that we have no money? Well, we also have shops where you can find your belongings--they're not really shops, but using that name makes it easier to talk about them.

There's separate shops for weapons, food, clothes, and other general goods, so you shouldn't have a problem finding your pistol. Just be careful about being trigger happy, because ammo isn't always the easiest thing to find around here.

[personal profile] redjacketthief 2012-07-14 02:39 pm (UTC)(link)
[They might be more similar than either realize, but neither know that yet.]

That depends on your definition of 'weapon tech.' Another one of my good friends comes from a space-faring world, and he has some cool droids and blasters to his name. We have residents from worlds of every tech level that you can think of, but the variety of tech is largely proportional to the population.

...We don't have many space faring individuals here. There are three from the world I mentioned, and there's another who is some kind of Marine. If you're ever on a mission and you see a very tall person in high tech powered-armor, that's her. We have more...medieval types, or people from around late twentieth or the early twenty-first century Earth, if there's an Earth where you're from.
redjacketthief: @ rerun (laughter)

[personal profile] redjacketthief 2012-07-14 07:01 pm (UTC)(link)
[He appreciates the deadpan--its better than complete refusal to accept the circumstances or accusations of lying. Those reactions were typical, and the reason he usually avoided New Feathers for a while. The paltry joke earns a laugh, because he is that desperate for a diversion.

Suffice to say, he's enjoying the conversation.]

We might find a Cro-Magnon here one day...but no, we don't have any yet! [He grins.] So you're also a space traveler...attached to some kind of military, right? What sorts of enemies do you usually face?
exaltedshepard: Not the Asari/Hanar porn, that's just gross. // Shepard, intrigued or amused. (Interesting.)

[personal profile] exaltedshepard 2012-07-15 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
[Good, because she is too. This guy's...an odd chap, but then, her whole crew is a bunch of 'em, so what's one more to her name? She'll snerk at that. XD]

Systems Alliance, yeah...well, used to be. It's a long story. There's a pretty big variety out there... [She takes a moment to recall some of her more recent missions, and a few of her older ones.] Lessee. Mono-eyed synthetics, slavers, mercs, sentient ships with mind control...no one believes the last one exists back home. [She shakes her head, expression turning grim for a sec. But only just.] Dumb bastards.
redjacketthief: (-glasses- confident)

[personal profile] redjacketthief 2012-07-15 12:28 am (UTC)(link)
[He believed it, only because he's faced enemies that ran the gamut of psychotic magicians, Orgon-energy altered behemoths, and (for one memorable instance) a giant brain. Yeah.]

Sounds like your standard military set up overall, though, even if they are a bunch of dumb bastards. Looks like bureaucracy never changes no matter what world you're from.

Those are some interesting enemies you have there. It must be pretty wild.
exaltedshepard: Trust me, I've seen worse. // Shepard, flashing a little grin to a squadmate. (You're not so bad.)

[personal profile] exaltedshepard 2012-07-15 12:52 am (UTC)(link)
I'll say. About the only difference is that it's grown to be galaxy-wide by now, if that makes sense. [Yay, saving the council.]

And yeah, it gets hectic now and then. Nothing I can't deal with, though. What about you? What do you usually come to blows with?
redjacketthief: @ rerun (casual-- lazy)

[personal profile] redjacketthief 2012-07-15 12:59 am (UTC)(link)
It makes complete sense. There are going to be problems at every level once someone decides to lay down a strict set of rules. It just gets messier as the scale gets larger.

[Thank the Malnosso for that re-anchoring incident. It was fixed, but he retained his memory of how interplanetary politics worked in one world.]

My enemies aren't near as flashy as yours, Commander. My Earth is in the late twentieth-century, and I'm just a man with a brain and a gun. One of my greatest rivals is a member if the ICPO, if that gives you a reference, and I've faced everyone from corrupt politicians to men who made themselves monsters. Literally.

...There was that time when a giant immortal brain tried to kidnap my girlfriend and destroy my world...but that was one of those once in a lifetime occurrences. I'm not even sure that I believe it happened sometimes.
exaltedshepard: I don't like the looks of this. // Shepard, distrustful. (Making me suspicious.)

[personal profile] exaltedshepard 2012-07-15 01:38 am (UTC)(link)
[She's just listening to him intently, but the moment he brings up the sentient brain, that really throws her off. So not what she was expecting from 20th century Earth.]

You know, I'm not sure of what to make of that myself. Sounds like something you'd see after a creeper overdose.
